Prosecco Cycling Classic

The sixth edition of the Prosecco Cycling Classic will take place on October 4th, 2010, starting from and arriving in Valdobbiadene in the heart of Veneto region. The two route options, 128km (2100m of climbing) and 68km (980m of climbing), wind through the vineyards that produce the delicious Prosecco sparkling wine.

Situated at the foot of the Dolomite Alps the rolling hills between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano are marked by winding roads that stretch through lush fields of Prosecco grapes. Since the early 1800s, the Prosecco grape has been cultivated exclusively in the hilly region of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene in the province of Treviso, where the combination of loam rock, sandstone, a southern exposure of the hills, and the mild climate creates the ideal environment for the robust vine.

This year a gift made from forged steel will be awarded to the participant that has traveled the furthest distance to the event. Event details: http://laprosecco.com/

On the eve of the competition, cyclists are welcomed to visit the grounds of Tenuta Villa Sandi, in Zecchei, where, through tastings of local products and guided visits to the wineries, they can discover one of the most typical products of the rich range of foods and wines of Treviso area: Prosecco.
